Heavy Equipment Operator- Asphalt Paving

At this time we are seeking Heavy Equipment Operators – Asphalt Paving. This positions are based out of our Penticton and Dawson Creek locations and work sites are through the Province of British Columbia.

Job duties

Your responsibilities will be to operate heavy equipment such as asphalt Paving Machine, Roller and Screed Machine to lay, spread or compact concrete, asphalt and other surface materials during highway and road construction.

Requirements

We require minimum of 3 years of experience in the asphalt/paving industry. Heavy equipment experience and/or training is required.  Working knowledge of methods, techniques and equipment used in Asphalt paving.

You must have a valid driver’s licence. Some secondary school education is preferable.

You must have the physical strength, stamina and coordination to complete the assigned duties, must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lb independently, more than 50 lb with assistance, withstand working outside, on uneven ground, for long period of time in different weather conditions. Be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch for long period of time. Complete repetitive tasks for the duration of each shift.

Details of job

This is seasonal job with 40 to 60 hours a week.

Wages $36.90 per hour.

Over time is paid pursuant to Article Ten of the Collective Agreement, namely  1.5 time the hourly rate.

Vacation: pursuant to Article Eleven of  the Collective Agreement a minimum of two weeks vacation in a calendar year. Vacation pay calculated at 4 % for less than one year of service increasing by one percent for each additional year of service.

Holiday pay pursuant to Article Twelve regular  rate of pay of 8 hours per day for 12 statutory holiday.

Medical, Accident and Sickness, Dental benefits per Article Sixteen 16 of Collective Agreement.

Employer contributions to retirement savings  plan per  Article Seventeen of Collective Agreement.
